Choosing Joy

The holiday season is upon us, with it, all our events, get-togethers, and festivities. As Christians, this is a time to celebrate the joyous birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Our creator, redeemer, and coming King. Jesus was born to this world so that he alone might pay for our sins through his sacrifice on the cross. Getting excited about our salvation should be as effortless! We have Jesus—wow! Is there anything that deserves a bigger wow than that? I think not. However, it doesn’t always seem that simple. Holiday times are hard for so many. The events and get-togethers can be full of stress and anxiety. For some, it is even a time when loss, past hurts, and struggles come to whole light. David said this in Psalm 25:16,
